It’s a luxury and I am lucky to be able to do this, I am lucky to just be able to prepare a basic meal to feed myself and my loved ones.
2.2 million Australians are not so lucky and are currently living in poverty. And by poverty I mean that these people do not have an acceptable standard of living. Many live without employment, basic health care, a decent education or proper food. Imagine having to make the difficult choice of not paying rent to be able to feed your family that week?
One way you can help is to buy the first issue of The Potluck Club – an e-cookbook comprised of affordable and mighty tasty recipes donated by food bloggers from around Australia.
All the proceeds from the sale of The Potluck Club will go directly to Foodbank Australia via The $35 Challenge.
Foodbank Australia is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation who work to distribute excess food from Australia’s farmers, manufacturers and retailers to charities who are able to supply meals to those in need.
At $5.95, there is something for everyone in The Potluck Club. From dishes to share with your family and friends like Cauliflower Macaroni Cheese, to something more substantial for dinner like slow cooked pulled pork with BBQ sauce – yes, and yes again. And then there are times when you just have to listen to your sweet tooth (well, mine certainly talks to me) and bake up something like Rollo Choc Chip Cookies – a thousand times, YES. There are a couple of recipes from this blog in there too; my Mexican style baked eggs and my Pork ribs with sticky, sweet and spicy plumb sauce.
